Lovely Friends (& awards)

Receiving a blog Award is a kin to receiving a basket of fresh-baked cookies from a neighbor. The whole point of the gift is the feeling in the giving, not the calories, Right? So it is with awards.  Each one is as important as the next because of the sweet nuggets of goodness that they represent. And the blogging friend that sent them.

This One Lovely Blogger Award comes to me from Ruth at retiredruth @ http://retiredruth.wordpress.com/?p=739&preview=true Ruth is a farmer.  People like Ruth who dedicate themselves to our Mother Earth by growing soy, wheat and other Godgiven nutrients so that we may live should be honored more. Mother Earth gives back and Ruth gives of herself. We reap the benefits. It is a lovely arrangement, I am a Farmers Market Girl and was one before it was cool & chic to be one. Although Ruth would not be at a Farmers Market hawking her harvest she is still my local farmer. And yours. Go pay her a visit, she’ll make you feel right at home. Or as is her case you will be all right on the farm~

I am sticking with Ruth’s format here with 7 random things about myself. However since I am now in a position to choose 7 awards to pass on I am veering off left here. I am not choosing one or seven because I cannot. Those in my own Barefoot Baroness world are so many that I treasure and adore. How can I pick just 7 of you?  I can not choose…..so know this please:

If you are reading this and are a follower of these barefoot prints in the sand then by all means grab that award badge and dance yourself right back on over to your own blog. Accept, Post. & Celebrate/  Then link it back here. I want to know you are accepting this award. Not that I am just saying..

Seven  Random Things About The Baroness You May Not Know ~ They will be random to be sure:

  • I don’t attend fairs or go on fair rides. Even the Ferris Wheel terrifies me
  • I have  a personal aversion to guns that goes deeper than just that I am a pacifist. which I am. Does this count as two now? …
  • I am not a gambler. I see no entertainment value it for myself.
  • I have severe insomnia. Often up in the middle of the night with my blogging friends from around the world. Always music. It’s what keeps me from going postal some nights while the rest of the world feels asleep. I am grateful for those who are not.  (I see you smiling )
  • I love the feeling of early dawn, cold & wet dew in the grass, on my bare feet. Sending Mothers Nature life force up and into me. Its Amazing!
  • I do not chew gum.  Have never which for me turned out to be a good thing.
  • I love many things about Eastern philosophies concerning man, spirit & the universe. Often communication with the universe make me smile.

Now grab that badge, post your award…. link back here.. & Celebrate you! I can name names if I have to.

Dane away my lovely blogging friend..

Hot Potato Award For Me.. For Me….

Yep, you are reading that right!

And my Irish Grandmother would be so proud.

I mean that. She would think this is the greatest thing since Soda Bread. My maternal grandmother was very proud of her heritage and she was also proud that I was quite fancied writing. So although she’d never get this blogging thing (I can hear her now) let alone the computer she would appreciate being acknowledged. And that I was acknowledged, especially with anything to do with potato in the soup mix she would be dancing  a jig for me.

This very original award is founded and created by a sister blogger who is an Aussie. I say this because she is my connection with another culture than mine. And other cultures fascinate me. She is also a women married to a man her senior.  I cannot recall the years difference but do remember the difference between her husband and her in years are a few more than the 9 yrs between my husband and myself. My sister blogger also is dealing with a husband who is severely disabled and ill. He and she are fighting Parkinson.Disease. This Superwoman (she’s going to get me for that) deals with everything this entails, and so much more that it would take the best of any of the female gender down, Men don’t even get to be brought into this mix because there is not a fair paling field for several reasons I’ll save for another show. And I know there are days it takes her down. But we watch her in awe keep getting back up, pull her big girl panties back up, and move forward. I am not so certain I could.

For those of you who have not had the privilege of meeting our WP resident Bird Woman please let me introduce you to the woman I hold dear to my blogging heart and admire more than anyone else I know here at WP for all that she copes with. I know that is a big deal to say and I do not say in just in passing. I would never be anything less than real and honest with this person I am sending you to see.

Please meet Julie at: http://jmgoyder.com/2012/05/24/hot-potato-award-winners/#comment-9582

I thank Julie deeply and with weepy eyes. Yes, she made me cry twice today.

The above words I spoke about Julie are words that she is now cringing over I have a feeling. ( I am sorry Jules) This was not my intent, and although I realize she hates to be acknowledged so publicly, if at all, this is something I could not keep quiet about, When a person Rocks your soul I believe it’s what you should do, tell them so.

So Jules, You Rock my soul! You & son. I think of you everyday, and thank you daily for the proper perspective I gain from your powerful sharing on your blog. I am learning so much about myself, and this life, through you. Even though you are unaware it’s happening. Thanks again so much for literally making my day.

See this upside down frown?

 : )

There are no rules to this award and it so freeing that I have decided to use this again and again. As in Julie’s own words”

I have decided to respond to any nominations I receive by rewarding the nominators with the HPA. If you have received nominations for awards you already have, or if you are like me and don’t want awards, please feel free to use the HPA!”

Again Thank you Julie. You are the best!

Liebster Award ~ Gift of Surprises

“Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly tenderly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile.”

This Makes me smile and I shall never forget why…..

A Liebster Award? Really?

I am quite stunned and blown away. Being new to blogging and the community I have found that exist I never even knew about has been an amazing delight.

I have met so many good people who have enriched my world. And to be given an award is not something I ever expected to come my way. I’ve seen these blog awards of course but never paid much attention to the whys and what for’s on how nominations were made. Now I know.

Thank you to my Liebster Friend;  http://halfwaybetweenthegutterandthestars  I’m so grateful for you thinking of me. I left the love on your post too but I ‘d like you to know that you made my day. Actually you’ve made my year as this is the last day of 2011. If you somehow have passed her blog, or missed it I highly suggest taking a peek at what she writes, what parts of herself she gives us. Believe me when I say this woman writes from deep inside herself, often pulling from within herself such emotional things that most of us are fearful of even discussing out loud. I’m grateful. I’m most humblled by this woman’s gift of daring to go there…. go where most will not. I think she’s brave, very brave.

My genuine thanks to those who read and follow my blog. I started out writing just for myself as a young child, keeping journals, diaries, steno- books, anything I could keep the volumes of my strings of words. As an adult I still keep journals and I also began writing and keeping files on my computer for a very personal story I am writing. A friend who knows me, knows what I write suggested a blog. May I insert here that I am a child of the 60’s and 70’s?  Home Computers were something this Mother Earth Lady was never going to have in her organic home. Ha!

Enter Chronic Illness into my life which brought with it chronic pain and fatigue. Employment was out of the question, a brand new city in a brand new state with no one but my husband and my once a week housekeeper to talk with led me to investigate home computers at my husband’s urging. Having found the community that the World Wide Web brings opened up a whole new world to me. One that saved me from isolation and introduced me to a new community. I first started writing about my illness and the need for acceptance and before I knew it I had become a strong advocate for women who are fighting the good fight of living with chronic pain and fatigue every day and the biases that we as women face even in this field.

I am very grateful for the progression of my spirit and my soul through the accepting process and the birth of my new life. I am grateful for my writing that descends into realms I never expected.

Before the rules and nominations let me just say that there are so many people in my blog community that deserve awards like this. It was not an easy task choosing just five. I believe each of you who pass by my blog, who take the time to comment, blogger’s I follow, you all deserve to be recognized.

Mercifully it’s almost a New Year. With 2012 will come more opportunities for awards.
